This is kind of interesting, a test which supposedly determines whether you use the right or left half of your brain more.
Which way do you see the dancer turning?
Left Brain vs Right Brain
I guess my brain halves are pretty well balanced, because I can see it whichever way I want with no effort. _________________

That's kewl; when I first looked at the picture, the dancer was spinning counter clockwise. However, I found that I can easily switch my perceptions of that dancer rather easily. I wonder if it means anything if you can switch your perceptions so that you can see that dancer spin either way.

to make spin on the other way, focus on the legs only...
basicly the main angle is something around 20 deg up for clockwiose and 20 deg down for anti-clockwise...
in other word : you can see under her right feet (the one that stays on the "floor") when she looks at you "anti-clockwise", and here is the trick, that same feet becomes the left feet and you can not see under it when she looks at you "clockwise"..,
was I clear ? ... I doubt but anyway... try again ... _________________ Live your questions now, and perhaps even without knowing it, you will live along some distant day into your answers...

i did that....thus the headache, and she still spun clockwise =P
i'm thinking this could explain my horrid math grades...the real trick will be selling my parents on this theory. _________________ In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.

I can only see counter-clockwise. But I'm a logical, detail-oriented nerd girl
Even had my husband come in here and I asked him. He goes: She's turning clockwise. No, counter... no, clockwise... so screw it, my head hurts now. LOL _________________

At first I could only see her turning clockwise. That lasted for a few minutes no matter what I did to try and make it change.
Then I figured out that I can make it change any time I wanted. If facing the screen, I would look (with just my eyes) to my far left and then back at the screen. Then she would turn counter-clockwise. Look far to the right (with just my eyes again) and she turns clockwise when I look back. It also works when I turn my head, but seems more effective when I turn my eyes first.
I guess those of us that can see it either way whenever we want to are psychopaths that can switch our emotions from rational & logical to irrational & illogical with the blink of an eye.
Oh, and this caused BIG drama at my office. It started off easy enough with a couple of guys arguing over which way she was turning. By the end of the day I had the entire floor gathered around and she was spinning on the big screen. Some people just don't get it that she can turn different ways for different people. Arguments about which way she was turning were common. Then I explained that it was a brain-test of sorts to see which side of your brain you are more likely to use. A resounding "ooooh" filled the room.

There is another way to make the dancer spin any which way you want; depending on what you are currently doing. Basically, it really comes down to which side of your brain you are currently accessing. If you can not focus and make the dancer spin in a given direction simply do the following: (Note: this works best if you are working at a office.)
- Shrink the picture window and place it at a corner of your screen.
- Continue your work and day as you normally would, but take a look at it from time to time; especially if you are doing different things or multitasking.
- Depending on what you are currently working on, you will actually see the dancer spin in the opposite direction. Remember, you use different parts of your brain to do certain things. So if you are writing an email, you are using one side of your brain. If you are reading or trying to understand an email, you are using another side of your brain.
I have also looked into this little phenomena (because I have that kind of time in my office) and here is what I found. For those people who can easily switch their perceptions to the dancer's spinning; it usually means that they are able to access both sides of their brains more efficiently than the folks who cannot. In other words, the folks who can easily see the dancer spin in any given direction usually means that the connections between the two halves of their brains are wider. Does it make you smarter than the average Joe? No, it merely means that you can process information faster and mentally switch gears more efficiently.
In addition, it is an interesting note that women should have an easier time switching their perceptions than men. I guess it makes sense because the make up of a woman's brain is more dynamic than that of a man's brain. It was once said that the connections between the two halves of a women's brain is equivalent to an 5 lane super highway; whereas, the connections between the two halves of a man's brain is equivalent to a dirt road. _________________ "Death would be a mercy." -WTF Comics

Yeah, Gomphe, that "depends on what you're doing" thing popped into my head immediately. It confirmed it when my husband saw clockwise and then he started reading the information to the left and said "Oh, now she's moving counterclockwise". I didn't test it by doing something creative or looking at some art or something but I suspected that would work as well.
I'm rather depressed to find myself so right brained. I like doing lots of creative stuff and I fancy myself at least tolerable in a few aspects _________________

How weird. Before, I had a hard time making her switch directions, but I went to bed, woke up, went out, came back 7.5 hours later (school), did chores, cooked and ate supper, watched the dancer again and I could make her switch directions effortlessly. Perhaps stimulation and exercise of the mind can make the connection between the two halves of the brain, making the dancer switch directions, a less tedious task? (I was sick yesterday, that's why I had a hard time, maybe) _________________

She doesn't move at all for me. Slight waver either direction, but to me I see the shadowed horizontal lines her own shadow and the one on the ground as a solid firm spot vs moving. (shrug) _________________

Worst test ever =P I see it going clockwise and I read the details and I apply mostly to left side of the brain not right as it says I am. _________________ 62 Wood Elf Druid - Spellit Forme - Retired
