I've started writing a bit of EQ fan fiction out of boredom, and I wanted to share it , so have a read and tell me what you think.

Loyalty

Chapter one

“I’m going to ask you one last time, what have you told them?”

“You’ll never get an answer from me, I’ll die before I tell you anything!”

“So be it” said the necromancer, and with that he drew his dagger and plunged into the man’s heart.

Fealto had seen Amad talking to a group of guards in Qeynos, and when they left, Fealto approached Amad and advised him to head back to the catacombs. He did as he was told until they got to an isolated area, where he drew his blade and swung it at Fealto, who parried the blow easily with his shortsword, then followed up by incapacitating Amad with a mighty kick to the groin.

Now, back in the catacombs, Amad had gone through hours of torture and interrogation without giving away any information, an impressive feat considering what he had been through.

“So” said the necromancer with an evil grin on his face, “what to do with him now?”

“Reanimate the bastard” said Fealto with a scowl on his face, “you can torture him for years, let’s see if he doesn’t tell us anything this time eh?”

The necromancer laughed. “Who would have ever thought a wood elf would be able to order such things?”

“Half elf” said Fealto with a smile, “and I would say it runs in the family but only my cousin and I are like this.”

“Where is Folus anyway?” asked the necromancer.

“I’m not sure” said Fealto, “I think he told me he was going off to settle some debts.”

The shadowknight plunged his massive sword into his foe’s chest, then in a split second pulled it back out and swung it a circle, decapitating the man behind him. Two more rushed at him, only to have their torsos separated from their waists in a single horizontal slash. In less than twenty seconds this man had killed twelve armed opponents.

“Now then” said the shadowknight calmly, “Will you be paying me in blood or coin?”

“Ok, ok, I’m sorry Folus!” said the whimpering man, “Here’s your money!”

“This is barely half of what you owe me!” said the shadowknight in disgust.

“It’s all I have” said the man, “You’ll get the rest, I promise!”

“Ok” said Folus “But just so I’m sure, I’m going to be taking one of your fingers for the time being.”

The animated corpse screamed in agony, the necromancer basking in the delightful pain. This was a torture that necromancers took pride in, raising someone from the dead and inflicting as much pain as they could without risk of their victim dying.

“Ok, ok, no more, I’ll tell you everything you need to know!”

“Good” said the necromancer, “But I’ll warn you now, I don’t take kindly to liars.”

After hours of questioning, Fealto and the necromancer were finally happy with what they’d learned. Apparently Amad had given a list of names to the guards, including Fealto’s. All they could do now was confront the guards and hope that they hadn’t delivered the information to any higher authorities.

As they were about to leave, a huge figure in black armour walked through the door, carrying a huge sack in one hand, and a small pouch in the other that appeared to be oozing blood.

“Hey” said Fealto, “How did it go?”

“The little bastard was a bit stingy” replied Folus, “So where are you two going?”

Chapter two

“There they are” said Fealto, “I remember them.”

“Very well” said Folus, “Let’s make our move.”

Fealto took two arrows from his quiver and prepared to fire, while Folus and the necromancer, whose name was Urcho, prepared to cast their spells. Folus raised his hand and gave the signal to attack.

Fealto’s arrows impaled one of the guards against a nearby wall, while Folus and Urcho used their magic to put their opponents in terrible pain, causing them to fall to the floor. The two remaining guards rushed at Fealto, who drew his twin blades and parried both blows, while Folus rushed at them from behind and knocked one out with a powerful right hook, then grabbed the other and threw him into a wall.

Urcho walked up to the guard that he had cast his spell on, and drew his dagger. “Ok” he said to the whimpering wreck by his feet, “You had better start talking, or you will suffer.”

“What did I do?” asked the guard.

“You consorted with that fool Amad” replied the necromancer, “And what I want to know is who you’ve passed the information to.”

“We haven’t told anyone! I swear!” cried the guard.

“Is that so?” said Urcho, “We’ll just see about that.”

Urcho stood up and scanned the area, then said “Folus, Fealto, would you care to deal with the two most injured victims? We’ll take the remaining three back to the catacombs for further questioning.”

Fealto walked up to the guard he had impaled and slit his throat, while Folus approached the one he had thrown against the wall, drawing his sword and cleaving the man’s broken body in two.

“Excellent” said Urcho, “Now, let’s make our way back shall we?”

Back in the catacombs while Urcho was administering his tortures to the three guards, Fealto and Folus were training.

“Good” said Folus, “You managed to last more than ten seconds this time.”

Fealto was incredibly skilled with the blade, able to dispatch almost any opponent with ease, but Folus was something else. He towered over most humans, being well over six foot. He was often mistaken for a barbarian. He was incredibly strong, and wielded a gigantic sword that when stood up was taller than Fealto. But despite his size and weapon of choice, he fought with supernatural speed, able to take on multiple opponents at once. This was not a man to be taken lightly.

“How do you even lift that thing?” asked Fealto, ever amazed by the sheer size of Folus’s sword.

“Practice” replied Folus with a smile, “Now how about we go another round?”

“Oh, fine then” said Fealto, and with that he rushed at Folus, who avoided his blows with ease, blocking, dodging, parrying and riposting every swipe in a blur of motion. Fealto was exhausted by the time they had finished, and went to get some water.

“You’re improving” said Folus, “You’re just not as good as me yet.”

Just then, Urcho walked in, his hands dripping with blood.

“Well?” said Folus.

“It seems we are to be expecting company” replied Urcho.
