It’s easier to post a FAQ here that can be edited quickly, and also some questions pertain to the boards more than anything else. If you have additional questions not covered here, post and I'll answer if warranted.
1. I donated five seconds ago and I don’t have my wallpaper yet!! —Wallpapers are sent out in large groups periodically through the month, not as individual donations come in. If I did it that way I would spend an inordinate amount of time mailing Wallpapers. Please keep in mind the Wallpapers are a thank you gift for your generous donation, not a product you’re purchasing. Donations for all Wallpapers at once take the longest to be sent as I have to go through the records manually looking for donations of $50 or above.
2. I figured it out! Haxor is ________’s Dad!/Mom/Cousin/etc.—NO… Haxor is no one’s father or relative, you’re not the first to think of this, it’s not a breakthrough no one else has ever come up with. While I don’t give a lot of things away about the story I will answer this, 100% without a doubt, NO.
3. Smoke is the Matrix!—Once again, no. Smoke is actually a character created more than 10 years ago for my younger step brother in the first comics I did for fun. Well before the Matrix series was conceived. I’m not that much of a hack though they may seem quite similar. Be patient and enjoy the story.
4. “Such and Such doesn’t work that way in EQ”—This is not EQ, this is a comic loosely based on Everquest. I do not follow the rules of EQ so don’t expect the comic to. Levels do not apply, AA’s do not apply, A dragon is a dragon regardless of level in game and dragons should never be a trivial encounter, the game screwed the pouch on this one, so I ignore the game rules. To those who have never played EQ and for whatever reasons consider doing so based on the comic, be aware for the most part you cannot look like any of the comic characters in game. There are no overcoats, there are no Martial arts Gi s, there are no capes, etc. I’ve found things generally work better when I completely ignore the game and its rules, so a lot of things in the comic do not follow the game at all.
5. “This is dumb, this sucks I could do better”—Then kindly do so and leave. If you don’t like the comic I see no reason for you to read it let alone bother me and insult everyone who does enjoy the strip. If you think you can do better, go out start a webcomic, build a fan base, start your own community, send out gifts for all your donations every month, do commissions, make products for your store, go to school, then call me and tell me how easy it is. Until then go away.
6. “May I link to your site from mine?”—Sure, always happy to have more traffic directed my way. I finally did even get around to making handy link buttons and banners as well, simply copy whichever images you like from the bonus page of the site or feel free to link to the strip however you like.
7. “Can I be in the comic”—NO. My only rule regarding cameo appearances is if you ask, you can never be in the comic. I don’t like being bothered, bribed, sucked up to, etc for an appearance in the strip. I don’t care if you have a 50 page backstory on your character that’s just so utterly cool, don’t ask to be in the comic, period.
8. “Can you print a book”—No. This is a question of copyright law since the strip is based on EQ. Unless Sony gives their express consent to market a printed collection of strips, it will never ever happen. If you really want to see a book I suggest you write to Sony, repeatedly. While waiting for a response that will probably never come, go ahead and print out the strips on your printer, put em in a binder and make your own book. As long as it’s just for your enjoyment I don’t mind in the least.
9. “If you can’t print a book, how can you make a calendar, mugs, etc in the store?”- The Calendars and other products in the store make no direct mention of Everquest or any related property, therefore they have no claim on any of it. It’s all only artwork, and it’s my artwork, so I can make whatever I like so long as it’s not related to EQ directly. Copyright law is generally written to protect artists/writers and there’s all kinds of places to look it up, the internet is your friend.
10. “I want to start a web comic, can you tell me what to do/how to get good/ how to get a base, etc?”—Nope, I have no idea what you need to do, it’s all kinda personal. The only advice I can give on any artistic question is to draw, a lot. Then draw some more. Draw until your eyes bleed and your hands cramp, then draw more. If you’re in comics or any art to make money, you’re in the WROOOOOONG line of work, I suggest being a plumber, electrician, doctor or lawyer.
11. "Previous/Next buttons don't work when viewing comics!"--- This issue "should" be taken care of now thanks to Kaolian from these very boards who wrote a fix to the code of the archive page. Previously it would not work with browsers besides IE when it came to the previous/next buttons, if you do still get an error post it to the boards along with what browser you're using. So far the archive code works with most versions of popular browsers and we haven't seen any problems.
