Very, very good two pages. It's nice to see Smoke get hit, but to do damage on the counter. Then, you show him strategically figuring out his next move.

I knew it! I knew the rogue had a conflicted, but decent heart. I don't think she will die, but perhaps she will "kidnap" the confused, naive ranger (Anna's friend) and get them both out of the situation. Perhaps, that will get her killed....

Oh wonderful fight!! I just love Smoke's calm way of doing things and his great sense of humor.

And Nikki, ah poor Nikki, I hope she doesn't get killed. Don't kids have a lot of wisdom though? Jeremy has captured that perfectly.

Worth every second of the wait!!

(Not to mention the beautiful artwork in every frame! Yes, I am a WTFC fan!)

First off, the art is VERY well done. The action is captured very well. Secondly, the story is also progressing nicely. We get a further nuance for our dark elf rogue (she showed us this side of herself earlier when Kaitis was first put in the cell, but now we see that she realizes what she has got herself into). The easy thing would be to have Smoke just beat Shade, but the logic of the situation doesn't allow that. Jeremy has done very well to have Shade be the better fighter (he has been fighting and killing others, while Smoke has been avoiding conflict). That makes the denoument much more difficult, and ultimately may cement the whole group together.
It is funny how we just all assume that Straha can defeat Venril with minimal help from Penny and Khris. Given that Shade did not think he could beat Venril unless Venril attacked him first, this should be quite a fight. Straha's rage and special ability can only do so much.
Notice that this episode also helps deal with the problem of Kaitis finding out who her father was. The explanation that he was trying to protect her, given her peril, makes sense. It looks like Kaitis bought it, and will probably make up to her father. It certainly should make a special reunion, though there is a lot that has to happen before that.

I am very curious as to why people seem to think Nikisha will die. Certainly, her death would be a good lesson in what happens when people choose evil, but there is that "spark of good" in her that could redeem her. Her actual biggest fault is greed (actually a desire for power, in the form of being the fastest mortal in Norrath). As a rogue she does have questionable morals. But she does not feel truly evil. She is certainly feeling the weight of her commitment to the Vision and her enforced servitude to Shade. There are a number of ways she could go. If, as she said, she believes it is too late for her to change, she certainly could go on as she is. Whether the good side of her takes over or not is in the hands of our master story teller. It might well be interesting for her to continue as she is, but conflicted. I, like the rest of us, anxiously await the next developments.

Maybe she just jumps down from somewhere onto that thingy ans switches it off when Stra's power fails and saves them all .. would be a nice twist and get her a way out without death - from Stra AND the other evil guys if she succeeds.

I doubt Shade will care that Nikisha released Kaitis. He got what he wanted. Smoke came to him and is now trapped by the agreement they made. He does not give a rats ass about the Vision. While the release of Kaitis may signal to Shade that Nikisha is not totally on board, he knows that to begin with. He will tolerate her as long as it suits him.
