Hey guys, first, I want to explain what this is about. I am 27 years old, in the military, and probably will be running for public office in future. I am what my mother likes to refer to as a "Better thinker". I always analize things, and thing about what I would do differently or better. With the problems that we have had over the past... 100 years or so, I wonder what we could of done differently.
This isn't really a political post, and would perfer it not to be, this is mostly a place that I want to be used for useful discussions on what you guys (and myself) think that could of been done differently, or what you wish could happen.
Look at the world today. Every day in the USA itself, we have armed robberies, people get shot, stabbed, murdered every 2 minutes or something in this country alone. If you look at it, what is either #1, or very close too it, reason for these murders? Money.
We need money for everything in our lives. Food, home, gas, electricity, internet, etc. etc. Our world has become so focused on money, that we have people living on the streets, and 1 person living in a 20 bedroom mansion, as well as a hundred different things I could name.
Being in the military, I have seen quite a few people die, and done some things that I will never forget. The reason I joined the military was because when I was 14, I watched my best friends dad get mugged and shot (luckily he lived).
If I could have one real wish to change the world. It would be to change the money system. It wouldn't fix all, or even most of the problems in the world, but it would sure do a lot.
What would you guys wish for? |

Ahhh...a fellow thinker. That's good. It is always good to think and contemplate about the various issues of the world; it helps keep your mind sharp.
Anyway, on to your post. What you are seeing is not the cause, but merely a symptom of a larger problem. Money is not the root of all evil; and it doesn't matter if you change the very concept of money all together, you will still have this problem that you see today.
The problem you are seeing is humanity itself. As I have always stated before; humanity as a whole is basically greedy, ignorant, self-serving, and violent. And if I have to compare humanity's maturity level and growth as a species; I would say that we, as a species, would be equilivent to that of a young adult of 18 to 20 years old. But, the good news is that we are all growing and evolving. And in time, we can do alway with most of the social problems you see today.
So, if I have one real wish to change the world, I would change humanity itself. That will solve most of our problems in the world. But downside is that it will also completely change us all as a species. |

Well, I will give you that.
Since you responded with more depth than I thought I would get on these forums (not the people, just didn't really expect replies), want your thoughts on other things.
Where do you see this world in 50 years? If I'm lucky, I'll be alive then, and I just think of what it will be like. In past 100 years, we have had the biggest technology jump ever. Infact, in 100 years, we have advanced and replaced things more often than I think in the combined 1000 years before it.
Look at the world, WW1, WW2, Vietnam war, Korea war, and Iraq war. Do you think that in 50 years we'll end up blowing our world up because we cant get along? This may sound political, but I don't mean it that way. With humanity being the biggest issue we have, do you think we'll find common ground and have peace before we blow our world up? |
